Capodrise and surroundings
Capodrise, a city of the Caserta territory, has its own identity of historical, political, social, artistic character. The municipality of Capodrise is inserted in the hinterland of Caserta, a territory rich in culture, archeology and art; the characteristic geographical position, in the stretch of plain between SM Capua Vetere and Acerra, which determines the mildness of the climate, make the hinterland a point of reference for beauty and natural resources; is located a short distance from the archaeological area of ancient Capua, present Santa Maria Capua Vetere; from important cultural structures, such as the Campano di Capua museum and the archaeological museum of SM Capua Vetere. In the plain hinterland between ancient Capua and the territory of Acerra, centuriation in Roman period, the village of Capodrise was formed at the edge of the maximum hinge centurion in the direction of EST-OVEST, from Maddaloni to Aversa, to meet the tangent maximum decumanus of the abode of S. Maria Capua Vetere; the city then developed towards SUD, along one of the decumans to the east of the highest, following a route that cuts the city in the direction of Marcianise. The city's historic center, despite tampering and building destruction, is still partially recognizable; it needs, however, due diligence and conservation interventions.
During the twenty years of fascism, Capodrise was a fraction of Marcianise, until it was re-established as a municipality in 1946, when the country, in search of its identity, had begun the coordination of its urban functions with the birth of the cemetery, the public school, the construction of new roads, the maintenance of the oldest, night-time oil lighting, the construction of the municipal house and many other autonomous initiatives, such as the birth of a building code and the appointment of a municipal architect.
