Fabro and the surrounding area

It is a historical center close to a medieval fortification that more recently has developed mainly in the valley. Fabro's castle, whose name derives from "Faber" (Fabro) in reference to the prevalent activity of its inhabitants, was restored in the 16th century. on the design of Antonio da Sangallo.

In the old town stands the beautiful parish church, consecrated to S. Martino (19th century). The precious relief of the 1930s wood carved in Valgardena and depicting S. Martino Bishop of Tours. The Palazzo Comunale nineteenth century, is attributed to the architect Perugino Guglielmo Calderini. The proximity to the Vilialba Ecological Park allows you to enjoy relaxing picnics and healthy walks along the well-equipped nature trail of San Pietro Acquaeortus.

A distinctive feature of the territory of Fabro is the wealth of areas where spontaneously the truffle is born. Just this precious tuber is dedicated to the annual National Truffle Market Show and Agricultural Products, which takes place during the second weekend of November and which is accompanied by the patron saint of S. Martino.

On a nearby hill lies the hamlet of Carnaiola, interesting for the presence of an ancient medieval castle which was further fortified during the 16th and 17th centuries when it belonged to the noble families of the Philippians and the Marsciano.

Fabro is the ideal destination for those who prefer scenic beauty and relaxation stays. It is possible to organize in the green surrounding the country, long and healthy walks and thus have the opportunity to cross those lands whose fertility spontaneously gives the precious truffle of Umbrian.
