Tonadico and surroundings

Located at the foot of the ruins of Castel Pietra, Tonadico is the ideal place for a holiday of relaxation and serenity. The most ancient town of Primiero and once the administrative center of the whole valley, Tonadico counts today 1,500 inhabitants. The village at 765 m altitude has numerous historical testimonies, and numerous are also wall paintings on the facades of houses painted in fresco with sacred images. Part of the communal territory, which includes the extensive meadows, pastures and forests of the Canals valley and Val Venegia, is included in the Paneveggio-Pale San Martino Natural Park. At Tonadico we also find the Villa Welsperg, built in 1853 by the homonymous accounts, which is now the seat of the Park Authority. Characteristic for the Tonadico plain are the so-called "bark" primaries, that is, small wooden barns.

Tonadico has a good hotel accommodation supported by the friendliness of its people and its quiet location. The famous tourist resort of San Martino di Castrozza is partially located on the territory of the municipality of Tonadico.
