Florence

Florence is universally recognized as a city of art with an inestimable heritage of architectural, paintings, sculptures, historical and scientific memories that form the city fabric as in a popular museum button. The heart of Florence is Piazza della Signoria, with the majestic Palazzo Vecchio, with a gallery of sculptural masterpieces in the Lanzi Loggia and the nearby Uffizi Gallery, one of the most renowned art museums in the world. Not far away is the religious center of the cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, with the majestic dome (the largest ever built) that, at the time of the Grand Duchy, it was said that with its shadow it came to cover all of Tuscany; the enormous Duomo is beautifully decorated by Giotto's Bell Tower, one of the most beautiful in Italy, and by the Baptistery of St. John, with its famous bronze doors, among which the golden gate of paradise stands out. The Arno River, which runs through the middle to the city, occupies a place in Florentine history alike with the people who live there. Historically, the local population has a hate-love relationship with the Arno, which has brought alternately the benefits of trade, and flood disasters. Among the bridges crossing it on the Ponte Vecchio is unique in the world, with the features of jewelers' shops in the houses built on it. Crossed by the noble Hamlet Corridor, it is the only bridge in the city that has been passed through the Second World War. In addition to the Uffizi, Florence has other museums that would be the main artistic attraction of any other big city in the world: Academy, the Bargello or Palace of Palazzo Pitti with its eight museums including the Palatine Gallery. The Florentines boast of having the best example of beauty in both feminine art (Venus del Botticelli) and male (David of Michelangelo)
UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982, Florence's historic center, surrounded by the avenues of the old medieval walls, collects the most important cultural assets of the city. Delimited by the 14th-century wall circle, built thanks to its commercial and economic power, it reached its highest splendor in the following two centuries. The historic center can be enjoyed in its entirety by hills around, especially from the Forte Belvedere , Piazzale Michelangelo with the Romanesque Basilica of San Miniato al Monte and the hill of Fiesole, which offers one of the most breathtaking views of the Arno valley. The left bank of the Arno (Oltrarno) is an area rich in monuments where still today it breathes, among its century-old artisan workshops, the atmosphere of Florence once, described for example by Vasco Pratolini. But there are numerous literary ideas throughout the city: from the neighborhoods of the tower houses, where the tombstones recall the verses that these places inspired to Dante Alighieri, the serenity of the Medici villas, where the Neoplatonic Academy of Lorenzo the Magnificent , to the theaters at Boboli's Pergola and Garden, where melodramas were brought to the opera for the first time.
Florence as "cradle of the Renaissance" has its masterpieces in the works of Filippo Brunelleschi (Spedale degli Innocenti, the church of San Lorenzo and that of Santo Spirito) and Leon Battista Alberti (the facade of Santa Maria Novella and Palazzo Rucellai) but also other artistic periods have left their absolute masterpieces: from the Romanesque church of San Miniato to Monte, to the Gothic Church of Santa Croce (where the burials of the Italic glories are located, as Ugo Foscolo, also buried there), to the extravagances of the Manifesto of Giambologna or Bernardo Buontalenti (such as the Fountain of Neptune or the Boboli Garden), to the masterpieces of the great Italian architects of the twentieth century as the station of Santa Maria Novella and the Artemio Franchi Stadium, respectively by Giovanni Michelucci and Pier Luigi Nervi .The center of Florence with its hundreds of business activities is a paradise for shopping and leisure, from stylish high fashion boutiques and historic cafes to lively m historic nightclubs, as well as hosting numerous nightclubs, nightclubs, american-bars, lounge bars, and aperitif meeting places.
