THE OASIS OF THE FAUNO COUNTRY HOUSE

The first cluster of houses that today make the Casal Velino Marina, where our structure is located, was born around the year 1000, around the shrine consecrated to St. Matthew the Apostle, whose remains, were found right here, a stone's throw away from the Archaeological Area of Elea-Velia, Unesco heritage. Of the remains of the saint, removed from the community of Casal Velino by the will of the Prince of Salerno, Gisulfo, now preserved in the Cathedral of the city, remains an evocative church whose original foundations are visible through a glass floor.

Casal Velino, Blue Flag also for the year 2014 is a green oasis of the National Park of Cilento, Valdiano and Alburni: (1st prize Riciclone Municipality 2013, for municipalities under 5000 inhabitants, 1st prize Return, for the collection of aluminum, Municipality of Fiorito 2013). Lapped by the award-winning sea of one of the most beautiful stretches of the Cilento coast, ideal for wellness holidays, Casal Velino, thanks to its strategic position of coastal centrality, lends itself to the organization of interesting excursions to the Basilian centers of Monte of the Stella, of Mount Gelbison, with the famous Sanctuary dedicated to the Modonna, to the visits of the extraordinary villages of Castellabate, Pollica, Acciaroli and Pioppi, home of the Mediterranean Diet, just a kilometer away. The proximity of the station guarantees agile movements towards other places worthy of interest to the north of the province: Paestum, Pompeii, Herculaneum and towards Naples. To the south, Pisciotta, Palinuro and Camerota, about thirty minutes away. There are three unmissable excursions: the Certosa di San Lorenzo in Padula, the largest in Italy and the second in Europe, trekking on the Cervati, at over two thousand meters, with its orchid valleys and "swallows", the Gorges of Heat of Felitto.
