Zoomarine is born in Portugal where the Mundo Aquatico company - Parques Oceanográficos de Entretenimento Educativo - has been managing since 1991 the Albufeira Park, Portugal's first theme park on the marine environment. Located at the gates of Rome, Zoomarine, with its 40 hectares, opens to public in 2005; it immediately confirms itself as one of the major family parks with a show of dolphins judged among the best in the world, demonstrations with sea lions and seals, birds of prey and tropical species, besides aquatic species such as pelicans, flamingos and penguins for a total of 155 animals of 36 different species; complete the offer of acrobatic shows, swimming pools and mechanical attractions. In November 2015, it officially joined the Dolphin Discovery Group, the largest multinational in the world specialized in the dolphin industry, which, with the acquisition of Zoomarine, joins the European continent. The Group, founded in Cancun-Mexico in 1994, with the acquisition of Zoomarine, begins an expansion plan in Europe and is confirmed as the largest Group of Thematic Parks in Mexico and Latin America, gaining a prominent role among the world's largest industry groups. Zoomarine, The first Italian facility to receive the Zoological Garden award in 2009 combining entertainment and educational offerings is positioned as the first Edutainment Park in Central and South Italy with over 500,000 annual visitors. Unique Parco Italiano to be a certified member of the Alliance of Marine Mammal Parks and Aquariums, as well as Dolphin Discovery, recognized for the use and maintenance of the highest quality standards in the management and care of dolphins and all species hosted. A park where environmental education, scientific dissemination and research are the cornerstones of its own philosophy, but also a place for fun for adults and children. Within the Park, which has an extension of about 40 acres , there are zoological areas - the Dolphin Island, the Pinnipedi Bay, the Parrot Forest, the Plains of Rapaci and the Laghetti Passage - where you can admire educational demonstrations of dolphins, seals and sea lions, tropical birds, birds of prey and aquatic areas. Zoological areas are embedded in a landscaped landscape of great value thanks to the choice of typical plants of Mediterranean scrub and the massive plantation of trees and shrubs. All animal species of the Park were born in a controlled environment, in Zoomarine or in other Parks, so no specimen was taken out of its natural environment. The Park has for years collaborated with several Universities and Bodies to encourage the development of research projects and rvazione. In this context, the conferences / training courses organized in collaboration with the Region of Lazio or on behalf of the Region, such as the Specialized Training Course "Cetaceans, emergencies, interventions and epidemiology" carried out within Zoomarine May 21-28, and June 4, 2013 and addressed to the staff of the Protected Areas, the Harbor Capitals, the Lazio Firefighters.
