Verucchio and surroundings

Verucchio dominates the Marecchia valley from the top of one of the limestone cliffs that characterize the territory, with a beautiful view, between the sea and the first hills of the Apennines, and is just a few kilometers from Rimini.
Just because of its strategic position, Verucchio became important during the Middle Ages when the powerful Malatesta family strengthened the fortress by making Verucchio become a fundamental bastion in the long struggle against the Montefeltro family.
Verucchio's first human settlements date back much older times. During the archaeological excavations that are still underway, numerous tombs of funerary fungi have come to light, which allowed the early settlements of a Villanovian-Etruscan civilization dating back to the 10th century BC, which chose these places as ideals for a stable protected outpost of the commercial routes of the Adriatic.
After the sunset of Etruscan civilization, Verucchio experienced favorable stages, as during the Roman rule, where nearby Rimini had a huge development, difficult moments where he found himself a frontier land between Rome and the Longobards, and moments of abandonment, until at the advent of the Malatesta in 1200, who drew the country and erected the fortifications that we can still see today. The most recent and tragic story of the Second World War tells of the tough battles along the Gothic Line between retreating Allies and Germans.

Our guests can relax in the brand new "Grotta del Benessere", inside the hotel, an exclusive wellness area completely created in the tufa caves located beneath the hotel, with heated stone beds, sauna, Turkish bath, whirlpool and emotional showers . The use of the swimsuit is compulsory. To guarantee more privacy and especially comfort, access to the Grotto of Wellbeing is allowed to a maximum of 8 customers at the same time.
We also inform you that the Oste del Castello hotel has made Wellness the distinctive element of its philosophy. A state-of-the-art wellness, attentive to the individual needs of all guests seeking a relaxing, peaceful and peaceful moment for them.
