Hotel Imperiale was born from the history of the great Imperial Villa of Ciglio dei Vagni.
The most famous antique monument of the whole territory, here is a Hellenistic necropolis found and, not far away, in the town of Ciglio dei Vagni, the remains of an imperial villa, as well as a few Roman baths, in Sant'Alessio .
The name of the village, once "Bollita" as it remembers the homonymous tower at the point where the oldest nucleus developed, refers to the origins of the territory belonging to the Siritide

Nova Siri and surroundings
Between XIV and XVI century Nova Siri is the fief of the Spanish family Sandoval de Castro, which belonged to Don Diego, supposed lover of poet Isabella Morra, daughter of Count Morra, lord of Favale, today Valsinni.
Once called "Bollita", Nova Siri is the city of Diego Sandoval de Castro, alleged lover of Isabella Morra, along with whom the young poet, born in Valsinni, was assassinated by his own brothers.
The oldest nucleus developed on the sea, in Marina di Nova Siri, near the Torre Bollita.
The initial position of the city suggests an initial function of military detachment, probably of Roman origin or, perhaps, Byzantine, during the advent of the Saracens.
The ancient name Bollita was later replaced by Nova Siris, because, as the historian Strabone attests in his work "Geography", here was the original Greek city Siris.
The strategic position of Nova Siri, located in the heart of Magna Grecia, opens a door to the history, since from here the visitor can easily reach the neighboring archaeological sites of Lucca and Calabria.
