Casalbordino and sorroundings

Casalbordino is located a short distance from the Adriatic coast, at 201 m asl. and a few kilometers from Vasto. The old town, dominated by the use of brick, features a tower, part of the medieval walls, and the eighteenth-century church of S. Salvatore. On the main square, dedicated to Umberto I, stands the imposing civic tower, opened in 1901. Built in neoclassical style, it is 45 metres high and also serves as the bell tower of the nearby parish. The agricultural economy has been integrated for several decades by tourism thanks to the Lido with its beautiful sandy beach. On the north of the beach is an interesting coastal Pineta called Santo Stefano ideal to walk trough or bike ride. Between the Pinewood and the sea there are low sand dunes cords. In the locality of Miracoli there is the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Miracles. Its origin dates back to the apparition of Virgin Mary before Alessandro Muzio of Pollutri, which occurred back on June 11th 1576. The current sanctuary was consecrated on 11 August 1962.
