Riolo Terme and surroundings
In the hinterland of the Province of Ravenna, where the first fertile hills of the Senio Valley begin, meet Riolo Terme, located a few kilometers from the Via Emilia between Imola and Faenza, about 50 kilometers from Bologna. The main attractions of the tourist resort they reside in the historical, environmental, enogastronomic riches but, above all, in its precious thermal waters, already used in Roman times for therapeutic purposes. The old village, gathered within a circle of strong walls, was born in the fourteenth century while the new part extends close to the majestic Parco delle Terme, where hotels and guesthouses are the setting for gardens and tree-lined avenues. And it is the centuries-old green, the tranquility and the benefits of the spa complex that make Riolo a destination sought after by those who appreciate a stay characterized by wellness, nature and sport. The characteristics of the territory, the tourist and environmental resources make Riolo Terme a visitable destination in every period of the year; in particular, we recommend a visit from spring to late autumn. In the historical center of the town immediately imposes the visitor Rocca di Riolo built at the end of the fourteenth century by the Bolognese. With its three towers and the square male, it represents an interesting example of military fortification that still preserves a bombard dated 1474. The ancient fortress now houses the landscape museum of the Faenza Apennines and is home to important historical, cultural and gastronomic events. Two steps from the fortress are the former Church of San Giovanni Battista, now used as a conference hall, and the Parish Church which houses a majestic ceramic panel made up of 900 majolica tiles by the painter Sante Ghinassi. A splendid and quiet panorama on the surrounding hills can be enjoyed from the Riolese walls leading to the museum park, where bronze sculptures by Giovanni Bertozzi are exhibited, and to the Thermal establishment, an Art Nouveau complex, which offers avant-garde curative services, natural remedies , aesthetic and rehabilitative treatments. Perfectly inserted in the spirit of the place, La Torre Golf Club has an extremely t ecnico (18 holes) covers an area of 200 hectares between rows of vines, ancient farmhouses and barren calanchi.
