Mulazzo is a village of Byzantine origin that became the capital of the Malaspina dello Spino Secco. Things to see: Octagonal tower, known as "di Dante", as it was the home of the Malaspina family, Dante Alighieri, remains of the Malaspina castle (13th-15th centuries), imposing arches of the ancient aqueduct (15th century); Alessandro Malaspina Study Center, navigator of the '700. Nearby: on the road to Gavedo, home to a 16th century castle, you can visit the ancient Romanesque church of S. Martino (8th century); Montereggio: characteristic village immersed in chestnut trees and home of the errant booksellers; the medieval Monastery of the Madonna del Monte with a Marian icon of the fourteenth century.
