Baia Domizia is a popular beach resort town in Campania region. It is located on the border with Lazio, from which it is separated by the river Garigliano. Its name comes from its geographical position, the town was in fact founded in the middle of the Gulf of Gaeta Bay and the Domizio coastline that includes the coast between Torregaveta and Baia Domizia, along the current Via Domiziana (SS7 quater ). The beach is of volcanic origin, born from the nearby volcano of Roccamonfina. It has a resident population of less than 1,000 inhabitants. The district is divided between the towns of Sessa Aurunca and Cellole, while it originally was a fraction comprised entirely in the municipality of Sessa Aurunca. In 1975 Cellole, also previously a fraction of Sessa, gained administrative autonomy. The territory of the town was then divided between the two municipalities: the south and east parts were assigned to Cellole, while the north remained under the administration of Sessa Aurunca. Due to its geographical position it is in fact "the South portal" [2], being the first town in Campana that you meet arriving from Lazio. Some incorrectly spell its name with the Latin "t",Baia "Domitia", confusing it with the name of the ancient Via Domitiana. The exact name chosen by the founders, which is written in all the official acts and even on the manholes, is instead Baia Domizia.

una posizione quasi sempre all'ombra.
