NEVE A ROCCARASO

Roccaraso is a tourist resort of the Abruzzo Apennines, in the province of Aquila, the district of the Major Highlands, not far from the areas of two large National Parks: the historic one of Abruzzo and the Majella one. The naturalistic heritage, the remarkable skiing and sporting facilities, the rich hotel and commercial facilities and the well-established reputation of a prestigious Appennine mountain tourism station, represent the business card that Roccaraso offers to its guests. Located at 1250 mt. above sea level (with a population of about 1668 inhabitants and an area of ​​4995 hectares) is known since the early years of the '900. Its tourist tradition starts from afar and already in the years between the two wars it was home to the ruling family and eminent personalities of the time.

Roccaraso is undoubtedly the largest ski area in central Italy thanks to its 130 km of slopes that connect the resorts of Rivisondoli, Pescocostanzo and Pescasseroli with 32 lifts, which brings it closer to the levels of the large northern districts. Roccaraso Aremogna has 16 lifts (1 gondola lift, 8 chair lifts, 5 skipasses and 2 treadmills) serving 3 black, 14 red, 16 blue; in the area of ​​Pizzalto 5 lifts (1 chair lift and 3 skilifts, 1 treadmill) on 5 black, 5 red and 5 blue. All the ski area of ​​Roccaraso offers 49 pistes on 78 km only for alpine skiing. Between the inhabited centers and the peak of the Treasure Patches there are a thousand meters of difference in height that can be reached by the Toppa del Tesoro (1668-2142). Almost all the slopes are set up for artificial snow making and the variety of slopes allows anyone to enjoy the considerable extension of the skiarea. There are also numerous international competitions: in 2005 Roccaraso hosted the men's and women's finals of the European Cup and in 2012 hosted the Junior World Championships. Over 2 snow parks on the Vallefura and Pescocostanzo slopes, possibility of snowkiting and heliskiing.
